Maybe you feel like your apartment could use some pizzazz, but you can't paint the walls—nor do you have the time. Every renter has been there. It doesn't mean you should simply abandon your desire for a home makeover. There are plenty of ways to revamp your apartment and add some color without repainting. Here are just three ideas to get you started.
- DIY a statement piece. In lieu of redoing the walls, you can just hang a statement piece over neutral hues. You have countless options for doing this, starting with just hanging a huge, colorful piece of art (perhaps a graphic print) that you find online or at your favorite thrift store. If you're a DIY enthusiast, however, consider wrapping a large canvas in a bright, cheery fabric, or even framing a square of wallpaper with a playful pattern.
- Create a gallery wall. On a similar note, you can also embellish your wall with a collection of small frames. This can be done a few different ways. If you want to open up your space, make your gallery wall out of mirrors in different sizes and shapes. For a more personal touch, frame photos and create a colorful hodgepodge. Then again, you could also opt to cover a whole wall in damage-free removable wallpaper!
- Update accents. If you don't even want to go so far as hanging something on the wall, turn to your furniture instead. Buy new cases for your throw pillows (or sew some yourself); repaint a wooden end table or coffee table; add a colorful area rug to your living room. Get creative and insert small pops of color instead of going crazy with new hues.
