Can you adopt a "the more, the merrier" approach when it comes to entertaining in your apartment? Sure — as long as you're open to using your space and furnishings in unexpected ways, that is! Here are a few tips to help you host an epic soiree in your rental home this holiday season.
1) Declutter and rearrange. Stow away decorative items and knickknacks to clear up valuable space on flat surfaces and provide more room for drinks and snack plates. Your larger furnishings, such as tables and couches, can be shuffled around your space to offer more seating and create a better "flow" to your rental.
2) Designate a spot for shoes and coats. Direct guests to a bedroom or other out-of-the-way location to store their coats, bags, and shoes for the duration of the party.
3) Spread out the snacks. Instead of one large buffet table, consider using several small tables for snacks. That way, your guests won't congregate in one area, such as the kitchen. You could place a beverage station in one corner of your apartment, for example, and savory and sweet snacks on two additional tables elsewhere.
4) Be creative. Who needs a cooler when you have a tub? Fill your tub (recently cleaned, of course!) with ice and use it as an impromptu cooler.
