The rain will give way to sunshine and warmer temperatures this weekend, which makes it all the more enticing to check out the first-annual Festa-Nic. Taking place at the Pleasant Gap Fire Company carnival grounds, about 11 miles from Vairo Village, this outdoor event is being billed as a "local food and beverage showcase" that's "part picnic, part festival."
That said, it'd be a good idea to arrive hungry. Because not only will your $10 admission fee score you a "picnic plate" of locally sourced food (meatballs, pasta salad, bruschetta, honey sticks) to enjoy during the community picnic portion of the event, you'll also be granted access to an extensive array of free food and drink samples (wine, beer, gourmet sauces, more) to be provided by local purveyors. After filling up on local fare, you can burn off some calories by dancing to live music from local band the Tommy Roberts Band and Friends, then challenge your friends to a game of disc golf or cornhole!
Planning on attending? Tickets to Festa-Nic can be purchased online. Proceeds from the three-hour-long event will benefit the Friends & Farmers Cooperative.
