The United States Independence Day is annually celebrated on the fourth of July. A federal holiday in the US since 1941 but the history and tradition of the celebration goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.
It was July 2nd, 1776 when the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. Two days later, on July 4th, delegates of all thirteen colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. Then, from 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birthday of American independence, which Commons at Mansfield is excited to honor. Celebrations for July 4th range from large festivities such as fireworks, parades, and concerts to casual get-togethers like barbeques with family, friends, and loved ones.

KC101 Hometown Country, a local radio station, is working with the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce and the Mansfield Lions Club to offer the free concert. “KC101 is proud to provide much of the funding for the concert from the $50,000 that we have pledged to give back to our community in 2023,” said Kevin Thomas, owner of KC101.
The show will be held in Straughn Auditorium at 7 p.m. on July 4th and will end in time for everyone to see the spectacular fireworks display around 9:30 p.m., which will launch from Mansfield University.
